For scratches just run your fingernail across the scratch. If your nail glides across the scratch without catching on it then that is considered a minor scratch and should buff out. Deeper scratches could require a body shop for filler and painting at least an entire panel if you want to go that route. Touching up a scratch is much more cost effective and if done right can be barely noticeable from just a couple feet away.
